How To Throw A Poolside Birthday Party For Your Child
With all of the design and installation options for custom swimming pools nowadays, creating the perfect backyard water feature is easier than ever. Some of the designs are so creative and fun, that your kids will probably want to spend their every waking moment in the swimming pool. One great thing about swimming pools is that they are a guaranteed hit during summer parties and get-togethers. If you are planning a kid’s birthday party this summer, below are some tips.
Decorate
Kids, more than anyone, love anticipation and excitement. Often the mere thought of what’s to come is enough to put kids over the moon with happiness and joy. If you are throwing a themed party (such as mermaids or pirates), some simple decorations at the door, like signs or other thematic decor, is a surefire way to get the little ones pumped up before they even hit the water.
Pool Toys
Custom swimming pool designs are great, and can be fun in and of themselves, especially if there are things like slides or waterfalls built into them, but the thing that kids really go crazy for in swimming pools are the toys. Floating devices, balls, basketball hoops, trampolines and diving boards encourage kids to really interact with a swimming pool. Make sure to include lots of floating toys, especially for the kids who might not swim so well.
Food
Make the food at your child’s pool birthday party fun, and themed if possible. Cups of blue jello for water, with butterscotch pudding for sand, a handful of gummy bears for beachgoers and a little decorative umbrella will be as fun to eat as they are delicious. The traditional poolside party favourites like chips and dip, some vegetables, and pitchers of juice and water are also hard to go wrong with.
Trendy Popsicles
Popsicles are a great way to sneak some fruit into the kids diets this summer while still being fun to eat. You can make popsicles using a handful of paper cups as molds, some fruit puree (kiwi, strawberry, raspberry and blueberry are always favourites) and voila! The kids are eating fun popsicles, while you and the rest of the adults know they are really just eating fruit.
Throwing a pool party for a kid’s birthday is one of the best and easiest ways to guarantee a good time. If the sun is shining, the toys are there, and the fun food is out, it’s almost impossible that your kid and their friends will have anything less than an amazing time.
